New Easy Air Access Wheel Cover Simplifies Tire Care

Pressure Systems International (P.S.I.) and FlowBelow Aero have teamed up to solve a common problem for truck drivers and mechanics. At the recent Technology & Maintenance Council (TMC) Annual Meeting, they introduced the Easy Air Access wheel cover. This new product combines the fuel-saving power of aerodynamics with a much easier way to maintain tire pressure.

The Problem with Traditional Wheel Covers

For years, trucking companies have used aerodynamic wheel covers to help trucks slide through the air more easily. This saves a lot of money on fuel. However, these covers often get in the way of daily maintenance.

Usually, if a driver or a mechanic wants to check the tire pressure or add air, they have to remove the entire wheel cover. Then, they have to unscrew the tiny valve stem caps on both the inner and outer tires. This takes time, and in bad weather, it is a job that often gets skipped. If tires aren’t at the right pressure, they wear out faster and can even blow out on the highway.

How Easy Air Access Works

The new Easy Air Access system changes everything by bringing the air ports to the outside of the cover. The two companies co-developed a special “manifold” (a part that routes air) that is built directly into the FlowBelow wheel cover latch.

Instead of reaching behind the cover, the air lines from both the inside and outside tires are routed to two service ports right in the center. This design offers several benefits:

  • No Tools Needed: You don’t have to remove the cover to get to the tires.

  • No Caps to Lose: The system allows for “tool-free” access, meaning you can check the air in seconds.

  • Protected Lines: Even though the ports are easy to reach, the hoses and parts are tucked away safely so they won’t get damaged by road debris.

Improving Maintenance and Safety

When a job is easier to do, it gets done more often. By making tire checks take only a few seconds, the Easy Air Access system helps ensure that tires are always at the perfect pressure. This reduces the risk of “missed” checks that lead to flat tires or expensive roadside breakdowns.

For fleets that want even more data, the system can be upgraded with optional CP hoses. These hoses allow the wheel covers to work perfectly with P.S.I.’s TireView monitoring system. This tech sends real-time tire data to the driver’s dashboard or an office computer using the TireView LIVE platform.

A Two-in-One Solution for Fleets

This partnership brings together the best of both worlds. FlowBelow is an expert at making trucks more aerodynamic, and P.S.I. is a leader in tire inflation technology. Together, they have created a single solution that helps trucks save fuel while also making sure they stay safe and easy to service.

The Easy Air Access wheel cover is a great example of how small design changes can make a huge difference in the daily life of a truck driver. By removing the “hassle” of wheel covers, P.S.I. and FlowBelow are helping the whole industry run more smoothly.
