Mack Pioneer Boosts Truck Safety with New Features
Mack Trucks is raising the bar for highway safety with its all-new Mack® Pioneer, which integrates a suite of advanced active and passive protection technologies. The new truck aims to provide unprecedented levels of driver safety through features common in passenger cars but new to heavy-duty trucking.
Key innovations include standard frontal airbags, with optional side-curtain airbags, and a new E-Call 911 system that automatically contacts emergency services after a collision. The Pioneer’s foundation is a high-strength steel cab, tested beyond federal mandates, paired with a chassis designed for the engine to drop below the cab in a frontal crash, protecting the driver’s space.
In a first for Mack, the Pioneer also introduces a digital mirror system, replacing traditional mirrors with cameras to eliminate blind spots and improve visibility in all conditions. This system also enhances fuel efficiency by reducing drag.
“The safety features in the Pioneer reflect our deep understanding of drivers’ needs and our commitment to their well-being,” said Stephen Roy, president of Mack Trucks. By combining a reinforced cab, advanced restraints, and cutting-edge visibility technology, Mack aims to offer comprehensive protection for drivers on the road.
