New Relay Pulse Solution Fights Fuel Fraud
ATLANTA – Relay Payments, a fintech company serving the trucking and logistics sectors, announced the launch of Relay Pulse, a new interactive solution designed to prevent fuel fraud. The system works by integrating directly with a carrier’s existing electronic logging devices (ELDs).
The new product aims to address the ongoing challenge of fuel fraud, specifically first-party fraud, where carriers face difficulties monitoring and preventing unauthorized fuel purchases by drivers. Relay Pulse leverages ELD data to automate fraud prevention and reduce the need for manual oversight of transactions.
According to the company, the system integrates with over 100 ELD providers, including Samsara, Motive, and ISAAC. By connecting with the ELD, Relay Pulse can enforce a carrier’s specific fueling policies in real-time.
Key features of the new solution include:
- Truck Location Verification: The system blocks fueling attempts if the driver is not in the immediate vicinity of their assigned truck.
- Fuel Tank Thresholds: It automatically enforces limits on fuel purchases based on the truck’s tank capacity to prevent excessive fueling.
- Fuel Level Confirmation: It verifies that the truck’s fuel tank level increased following a transaction.
- Driver and Vehicle Syncing: The platform ensures drivers are correctly assigned to their trucks in the system for accurate record-keeping.
- Automated User Management: It automates the process of adding or removing drivers between Relay and the ELD system to keep permissions current.
“Fuel fraud costs carriers millions each year, yet most solutions leave too many gaps in visibility and control,” said Ryan Droege, CEO of Relay Payments. Droege explained that fleets often rely on time-consuming manual processes that only catch fraudulent activity after it has already occurred. “Relay Pulse changes that by giving carriers real-time control over when their drivers fuel and how much they can purchase.”
Early users of the system have reported positive results. “We can now accurately track fuel usage and cost in real-time – no more guessing, and no more theft,” said Navjot Thandi, Operations Manager at Royal Carrier LLC. “It’s a powerful tool that gives us visibility into our operations and helps us reduce expenses.”
