Innovative Multi-Temp Options for Reefers

For fleet managers handling temperature-sensitive cargo, maximizing the versatility of refrigerated trailers is essential for profitability. Accordingly, Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company has announced new options for its 3000R refrigerated trailer, specifically the new Offset CenterSeal® Configuration. This innovative design, when combined with the Cargobull 655MT TRU (transport refrigeration unit), allows the CenterSeal load partition system to be offset toward either side (Source: Utility Trailer News Release). This ability to vary compartment sizes is a critical enhancement to load versatility and thermal efficiency, allowing for dual independent temperature zones that can support deep-frozen conditions. Furthermore, this offset feature is highly beneficial for fleets handling LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight, enabling them to optimize space utilization when transporting mixed loads that require distinct temperature zones. Importantly, the design ensures continuous thermal integrity across the various configurations. The company explains that this dual-system approach allows either side to sustain deep-frozen conditions independently, meeting even the most demanding cold-chain requirements. Importantly, the center wall is easily adjustable or completely removable for single-temperature operations, which further boosts the trailer’s operational flexibility.

Dry Van Payloads and Telematics Advancements

In addition to reefer improvements, Utility also highlighted a new option for its 4000D-X Composite® dry freight vans. The van can now be equipped with the Kinedyne Kaptive beam system for versatile load securement and double-decking. The vertical single-track installation enhances payload capacity while retaining the high-strength composite wall. This system helps keep cargo securely in place, reducing shifting and enhancing safety.

Furthermore, Utility introduced UTILITY TrailerConnect, a unified telematics platform designed to simplify fleet management (Source: Utility Trailer Manufacturing Press Release). The platform offers two tiers: UTC-BASIC, which is trailer agnostic and perfect for digitizing dry vans and flatbeds with features like geo-location and tire monitoring; and UTC-PRO, which integrates with Cargobull TRUs for advanced cold-chain features like precision temperature recording. Consequently, UTC-BASIC provides a cost-effective entry point for tracking asset location and improving tire maintenance across an entire fleet, regardless of trailer type. Meanwhile, the UTC-PRO tier offers the deep diagnostic data essential for maintaining strict compliance with cold-chain regulations. This new telematics portfolio is available for both new and existing trailers through a retrofit program.
